Gaivota

There are 35 teenagers living at the Gaivota home for teenagers (12-18 years old). At the Gaivota teenagers are treated as responsible young people and are expected to make their own way to local schools or courses they are enrolled in, as well as being introduced to life in the town of Albufeira.

Gaivota means seagull, and it is at this home that the children find their wings and learn how to live in the community, studying, working in the holidays, and even going to university. Those who are less academic can take practical courses run by the Santa Casa which enables them to find jobs, either within the institution, or outside of it.
